🛡️ Rethinking defence procurement in the Age of AI

Technology is advancing at extraordinary speed but defence procurement frameworks are not always keeping pace.
At REAIM 2026, our CEO Tanya Suarez stressed that agility in adopting AI must be matched by robust ethical safeguards. Responsible systems demand clear mission objectives, defined decision rights, explainability and traceability from day one, alongside continuous testing across their lifecycle.
Speed matters but not at the expense of human oversight or accountability.

Five years of Quantum milestones: QuIC at the forefront
Europe’s quantum ecosystem is celebrating five years of growth, collaboration, and influence. To mark QuIC’s fifth anniversary, a special edition of Q-Wave brought together the association’s founding voices Thomas Strohm, Laure Le Bars, Jan Goetz, and Tanya Suarez, for a candid discussion on milestones, challenges, and Europe’s role in the global quantum race. Highlights included Q-Expo 2025, which brought together 650 participants, and QuIC’s joint position paper with academia on the Quantum Act, demonstrating the power of a united industrial voice.
From its founding assembly of 13 members in 2021 to representing nearly two-thirds of Europe’s quantum ecosystem today, QuIC continues to push boundaries. Strategic priorities for the next chapter include industrialisation, cross-industry integration, mobilising private capital, and maintaining Europe’s technological sovereignty.
