Europe digital future: insights from the 20x30 Advanced Digital Skills Summit 🚀

During the DIGITAL Skills EU Days, from 12th -14th November, in Bruxelles, our Managing Consultant Brendan Rowan and our CEO Tanya Suárez helped guide discussons at the 20×30 Advanced Digital Skills Summit.
Brendan presented the ADS State‑of‑Play which painted a striking picture: in 2024, more than 10 million people across the EU worked as ICT specialists, roughly 5.0 % of the total employed population.
Yet despite this growth, the current trajectory will fall short of Digital Decade’s target of 20 million ICT professionals by 2030.
Brendan’s data‑driven analysis sparked a high‑level panel debate, reinforcing the urgency for coordinated education, industry and policy efforts. While Tanya moderated the session “Navigating the challenges in advanced digital skills”.
Experts from the OECD and Generation examined how Europe must respond to surging demand for new skills amid global competition and widespread digital workforce shortages. A notable insight: reskilling, workforce readiness and talent‑attraction must be urgent priorities.
Let us help you turn challenges into opportunities and unlock your business’s potential in a rapidly evolving world.
INSTAR and TTC Japan join forces on global digital standards 💡

This month we achieved a new milestone for the INSTAR Standards initiative: a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Japan’s Telecommunication Technology Committee (TTC Japan) in Seoul.
Tanya Suarez, our CEO, signed on behalf of the INSTAR consortium, alongside Hideyuki Iwata, President and Director General of TTC Japan. This strategic partnership launches an International Task Force (ITF) to advance shared priorities in cutting-edge digital domains, including AI, Cybersecurity, Digital ID, Quantum, IoT, 5G, 6G and Data.
By combining expertise, coordinating joint initiatives and sharing knowledge at international events, INSTAR and TTC aim to foster a more open, interoperable, and human-centric digital ecosystem connecting Europe and Japan

Strengthening the women in ICT pipeline: the gender gap 🚀

During the Women in Digital Summit at the Digital Skills EU Days, our managing consultant Liubba El Hadi Hamed, moderated the session “The pipeline view – Reflections and discussion”.
The message was clear: across the EU in 2024, women still made up just 20% of ICT specialists. The session explored the systemic barriers that keep women from entering and advancing in tech, from lack of early encouragement to under‑representation in training and hiring. Participants stressed that building a healthy digital pipeline requires early‑stage interventions, targeted reskilling programmes, and policies that support inclusion at every step.
If Europe is to meet its digital ambitions and plug the skills gap, closing the gender divide it’s essential.
TechConnect webinar: the affordance gap and innovation in healthcare
This month, the TechConnect Webinar series took place: two webinars about the TechConnect project to shed a new light on how technology works in European healthcare.
Across 12 case studies in four countries, researchers revealed the “affordance gap”: the mismatch between what technology is designed to do and what it actually enables in busy clinical environments. These gaps aren’t failures, they’re signals, they outline teamwork, reshape workflows, and, in some cases, spark unexpected innovations that improve care.
Successful healthcare technology isn’t about the tool, it’s about the system around it. ngaging clinicians early, adapting continuously, and fostering open communication ensures technology truly enhances care

Revealing the Power of Vehicle-to-Grid 🌍
Our CEO Tanya Suárez and our manager consulting Agathe Dizengremel participated to the V2G workshop in Brussels, showcasing the rapid evolution of electric mobility and energy systems and how much coordination is still needed to realise the full potential of vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology.
Key insights
The EU aims for 32% electrification by 2030, while the UK could see V2G electricity reach 41GW by 2050, becoming a major source of grid flexibility.
Across Europe, 10 million EVs already offer 100 GW of power and 600 GWh of decentralised capacity.
Real-world pilots confirm bi-directional charging is commercially viable, delivering tangible savings for users.
Cross-sector collaboration is essential: energy, mobility, and digital ecosystems must work together to scale V2G successfully.

TechConnect Webinar series: inside Europe’s digital hospitals 📚
The second TechConect webinar explored workforce digitalisation, drawing on a survey of 300 professionals across 14 countries. The findings were clear: 92% use AI daily, 96% want to learn more, and 82% say advanced digital tools enhance productivity and creativity.
Yet only 28% of organisations offer training in essential human-centric skills such as problem-solving, creativity and communication. Experts emphasised that workforce readiness depends not just on technical proficiency, but on the ability to apply technology wisely and ethically.
Digital transformation is not about replacing humans, it’s about enhancing human potential. Employees are ready to embrace this evolution, but organisations must rethink governance, training, and communication to make it work
